avast is one of the top security suites rated in the field. It’s strong on security for mobile and desktop devices It scans for malware and comes with other features such as an anti-theft feature and software updater. It also includes sandbox technology, which checks unknown files in an isolated location prior to installing them on your mobile device or computer to stop infection.
The interface of Avast is simple and clean. The central dashboard shows all the tools that the suite can provide and includes clearly marked icons for each. The menu bar, settings and new issues are all clearly labeled. Avast’s full scan has a minimal impact on system performance, and the suite scores well in security tests against different types of malware, including ransomware.
Avast, however, made headlines in the late of 2019 and into 2021 due to the fact that it collected and sold user information through the feature called Jumpshot. Thankfully, the company has since ended this practice and claims to not be collecting any personal information of users for marketing purposes.
Avast offers a variety of subscription plans for individuals and businesses. The basic home plan provides protection for up to five devices free, and its paid plans offer more coverage of devices and additional features, such as password management and an ad blocker. Avast’s business plans provide more flexibility, as well as additional security features such as encryption of online traffic, USB port monitoring to prevent unauthorized removable storage and a virtualprivate network to ensure secure browsing.
